The Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, Inc. is excited to recognize our members for their notable contributions to the community, and exemplary commitment to the ideals of our founders.  We are pleased to honor Royce Duplessis, Esq., who was not only involved in the passage of the Justice Reinvestment Act last year, but also championed pre-trial criminal justice reforms in his role as Special Counsel for the Louisiana Supreme Court. For over two years, he observed the human impact of inefficiencies and inequities in our criminal justice system and worked to change that system by spearheading the management of a half-million dollar grant to develop and adopt better practices for the assessment and collection of court costs, fines and fees.

This is not the first time Royce’s talents led him to serve our community. Royce has served as Chairman of the New Orleans City Planning Commission, a volunteer mentor to male teenagers through the nationally-renowned Silverback Society, the co-founder and President of the A.P. Tureaud, Sr. Legacy Committee and the Immediate Past President of the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, Inc., where he used his presidency to increase the society’s commitment to legal access by conducting numerous free legal service and outreach clinics across the City. He’s now running to serve as the next State Representative for District 93. The Martinet Society is not only grateful for Royce’s service to the New Orleans community, but is also grateful for his exemplary commitment to the ideal of promoting equity in the criminal justice system.
