“Helping out a real person, there’s nothing like it; it means everything to me.” These are the words of Lauren Sapp, a Staff Attorney at the Orleans Public Defenders. Lauren graduated from Loyola Law School (Los Angeles) in 2017 with a dedication to serve and help her community. That dedication did not simply begin after law school. Prior to becoming a public defender, Lauren dedicated herself to helping her community through her work at the American Civil Liberties Union, the Los Angeles Public Defender, the Los Angeles LGBT Center, and Good Shepherd Services.
As a public defender, Lauren has learned how to successfully advocate on behalf of her clients with a competent understanding of the law and passionate representation of the people she fights for. Judges have commented on her resilient persistence that embodies zealous and effective representation. And colleagues have praised Lauren for her in-depth knowledge of her cases as well as her understanding of her clients. These qualities are what make Lauren such a great public defender.
Shortly after Lauren passed the Louisiana Bar she became a member of the Greater New Orleans Martinet Society. She is a rising star in our criminal justice system and we are proud that she is a member of our chapter.
